Step #2 Place the butter, & both sugars in a mixer bowl, & cream until well mixed.
Step #3 Add the vanilla extract and egg.
Step #4 Mix well.
Step #5 Sift together the flour, baking soda, & salt.
Step #6 Add small amounts of the flour mixture to the butter mixture, & mix well.
Step #7 Fold in the chocolate pieces & nuts.
Step #8 put in the fridge dough for 1/2 hr.
Step #9 Spoon out 1/2 tbsp portions on a parchment lined baking sheet, 1 1/2 inches apart.
Step #10 Bake the cookies for 12 to 15 mins, or until golden brown.
Step #11 allow this to cool.
Step #12 This recipe yields 2 dozen cookies.
Step #13 To make an ice cream sandwich, use 1 scoop of ice cream between 2 cookies, drizzle with chocolate sauce & Sprinkle top with the mixture of powdered sugar & cocoa powder.
