Step #1 Recipe by: Taste of Home Oct/Nov '96 Place apples in a slow cooker.
Step #2 mix sugar, cinnamon, cloves & salt; pour over apples & mix well.
Step #3 Cover & cook on high for 1 hr.
Step #4 Reduce heat to low; cover & cook for 9-11 hrs or until thickened & dark brown, stirring every once in awhile (stir more frequently as it thickens to prevent sticking).
Step #5 Uncover & cook on low 1 hr longer.
Step #6 If desired, stir with a wire whisk until smooth.
Step #7 Spoon into freezer containers, leaving 1/2-inch headspace.
