Basil & Sage Bread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tb Butter or margarine
  • 1 c All-purpose flour; sifted
  • 1/2 ts Salt
  • 1/2 c Creamed cottage cheese
  • 1 ts Baking powder
  • 1/2 ts Dried basil leaf
  • 1 tb Green onion; sliced
  • 1 tb Fresh chives; snipped -OR-

Directions
  • Step #1 Melt butter or margarine in a small skillet.
  • Step #2 Add chives or green onion & basil.
  • Step #3 Cook, Stirring constantly, until herbs soften.
  • Step #4 Remove skillet from heat.
  • Step #5 stir in the cottrage cheese; set aside.
  • Step #6 Sift together flour, salt & baking powder into a medium bowl.
  • Step #7 Add cottage-cheese mixture.
  • Step #8 Stir until mixd.
  • Step #9 Drop by rounded tspfuls into simmering soup.
  • Step #10 Cover soup & let simmer until dumpling are firms, about 15 mins.
  • Step #11 Makes about 12.
