Orange Bread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 ts Dried marjoram
  • 1 tb Grated orange peel
  • 1 ts Ground ginger
  • 2 Golden Delicious apples - peeled, cored & sliced
  • 4 c Hot cooked brown rice mixed with:
  • 1/2 c Water
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 1/2 c Orange juice
  • 1/4 c Lemon juice
  • 1 c California dried figs - stems removed & halved
  • 1/2 c Port
  • 3 1/2 lb Pork shoulder or butt - boned, trimmed, - & cut into 2" cubes
  • 1 Orange; peeled, - sectioned & sliced
  • 3 tb Sesame seeds -

Directions
  • Step #1 Saute pork in large frying pan until browned on all sides.
  • Step #2 Sprinkle top with marjoram, stirring to saute herb.
  • Step #3 Add port, orange peel, orange juice, lemon juice, water, ginger & bay leaves.
  • Step #4 Cover; simmer until pork is very tender -- about 2 hrs.
  • Step #5 Remove meat to serving dish.
  • Step #6 Add figs, apples & orange pieces to pan.
  • Step #7 Cover; simmer about 10 mins, just until apples are soft.
  • Step #8 Spoon fruit & juices over pork.
  • Step #9 serve this with rice.
