Clam Bake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 lb mussels, cleaned & debearded
  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 1/2 lb unpeeled large shrimp
  • 1 lb clams in shell, scrubbed
  • 1/4 c dry vermouth (optional)
  • 3/4 c butter, divided
  • 8 medium red potatoes, scrubbed
  • 1 (48 fluid oz) can chicken broth

Directions
  • Step #1 Place a potatoes in a layer in the bottom of a large pot.
  • Step #2 Cover with a layer of clams, then mussels, & finally the shrimp.
  • Step #3 Pour in the vermouth & enough chicken broth to fill the pot halfway.
  • Step #4 You may not need all of the broth, depending on the size of your pot.
  • Step #5 Cut half of the butter into cubes & place on top of the seafood.
  • Step #6 Cover with a lid, & seal tightly with aluminum foil.
  • Step #7 Bring to a boil, then simmer over medium-low heat for 45 mins.
  • Step #8 Remove from the heat, & carefully remove the foil & lid.
  • Step #9 Remove the seafood & potatoes from the liquid to serve.
  • Step #10 Melt 1/2 remaining butter, & divide into 4 individual dishes for dipping.
  • Step #11 Serve with the rest of the butter & French bread.
