Cinnamon Bread Pudding Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 (1 oz) squares semisweet chocolate
  • 3/4 c sugar
  • 1 c milk
  • 1 1/2 tsps vanilla extract
  • 12 slices cinnamon bread, crusts removed
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 c half-and-half cream

Directions
  • Step #1 Cut bread in half diagonally.
  • Step #2 Arrange half of the slices in a single layer, overlapping if necessary, in an ungreased shallow 2-qt.
  • Step #3 microwave-safe dish.
  • Step #4 Drizzle with half of the chocolate; top this with remaining bread.
  • Step #5 In a 1-qt.
  • Step #6 microwave-safe bowl, uncovered, mix the cream & milk; microwave, on high for 4-6 mins or until hot but not boiling.
  • Step #7 In a small bowl, beat eggs; add sugar.
  • Step #8 Add a small amount of cream mixture; mix well.
  • Step #9 Return all to the larger bowl; stir in the vanilla.
  • Step #10 Pour over bread; drizzle with the remaining chocolate.
  • Step #11 Cover & microwave at 50% powder for 14-15 mins or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean, rotating a half-turn one (mixture will be puff up during cooking).
  • Step #12 Uncover & let this stand for 5 mins.
  • Step #13 Serve warm or cold.
  • Step #14 Refrigerate leftovers.
