Freezing Morels
I wanted to share how my husband freezes our morels (if we can resist eating them all). Cut them in half length-wise. After several thorough salt water baths to de-bug them and much rinsing, he shakes of as much water as possible and them places them on paper towels to dry off. Then he places them split side downon cookie sheets. After they become firm he places them into zip locks. They taste pretty good and were woth wating for when the snow flies!

RE: Freezing Morels
I'm glad you put this up. I put up a recipe for how to freeze fresh picked morels, but I haven't yet tried the saltwater bath. when I did them last year I had only split and debugged them and cooked them in butter, but it was my first year and I had to guess at it. they were sandy. I'm going to try this technique.

RE: Freezing Morels
We have been freezing morels for about ten years now. Our method is to bread and partially fry them. Lay them on a sheetpan, freeze solid, then vacuum pack them. When your ready, throw them in a hot oven, deep fryer or saute' pan and cook the for a few minutes.

You will be surprised how fresh they taste.... Jim

RE: Freezing Morels
i was going to try them in the dehydrator. It's raining here now, but i am going to try looking tomorrow.
