gennymac 4 months ago said: To Skin or Not to Skin - Tomoatoes I am getting ready to clear our garden tomoato plants and make a big batch of home made tomato sauce for freezing. I planned to use a blender to mix the tomatoes, onions, garlic, and fresh spices (also from my garden).
It occured to me while I was prepping the kitchen, I do not know why we skin tomatoes prior to freezing them.
Why should I skin these if I plan to puree them for freezing?

The whole time was cleaning the plants of all the fruit, I just could not come up with a valid reason to skin these bad boys. Especially the tiny cherries - there are simply too many of them for us to eat and I cannot in good conscious let them rot on the vine.
I know what my mailman, nail stylist, house keeper, and mother in law are getting for Christmas. Tomato Sauce !
