3-5 lbs peeled and diced potattoes-Just depends on how much you want
Melt 1/2 stick(1/4 cup)butter in pot. Cook chopped onion in the butter. (5 min) Add potatoes & water to cover. Boil until fork tender. Drain 1/2 water, add 2 cups milk, small sour cream, cream of chicken soup, cream of celery soup, 1 lb chopped Velveeta, (Bacon or ham) I use 1 bag of chopped ham pieces. Serve with crusty bread.
