It's simply this: I love to cook! :) I've been hanging out on the internet since the early days and have collected loads of recipes. I've tried to keep the best of them (and sometimes the more unusual) and look forward to sharing them with you, here. The greatest influences on my cooking have been my mother, Julia Child (no, she's not my mother *grin*), and my cooking instructor Chef Gabriel Claycamp at Seattle's Culinary Communion.
I published a cookbook about a year ago called "Big Damn Chefs: The International Browncoat Charity Cookbook" which has done pretty well - I'm very pleased with its outcome. :) You can get to it at http://www.BigDamnChefs.com.
If you recognize my username... yep, you probably know who I am. :) I'm "Julesong" pretty much everywhere (including RecipeZaar and Live Journal).
Nice to meet you! :)

Anyways, congrats on your book and charity :)
julesong 10 months, 1 week ago said: RE: Introduce yourself! :) *chuckle* You're not the first one here who mis-read my bio, apparently. I keep having to tell people she's not my mother. I suppose I should fix the bio, but it's kinda fun. ;)
Julia Child didn't have any children, which is... sad. I mean, I don't know why she didn't, perhaps she didn't want to. But it would've been wonderful to have a continuing legacy.
Thanks for the congratulations! :) I'm pretty proud of the cookbook - it was a lot of work.
Have you ever seen "Firefly" or "Serenity"? FABULOUS stuff! :)

A little about me...
My love of authentic Italian cuisine started when I was just a toddler, in my Nonna's kitchen, helping with the simplest of tasks in preparing the Sunday family dinner. These dinners were heartily enjoyed with much boisterous fellowship by our large Italian family and friends. The wonderful memories of those days are what led me to grow up and make my living sharing these heirloom Italian menus with the public, as the chef/owner of Flavors of Italy Catering in Memphis, TN. I also enjoy cooking (and eating) other cuisines - Southern, Mexican, Asian, breads, soups and stews, just to name a few. I'm having a great time here at Group Recipes, learning, sharing, and making new friends!
If you were to choose one recipe that you learned from your Nonna, one that makes you feel all especially warm and happy inside, what would it be? :)
flavorsofitaly 10 months, 1 week ago said: RE: Introduce yourself! :) Gosh, that's a hard one, Jules...but I'd have to say it was her lasagna. :-) I'm getting the warm fuzzies just thinking about it, lol. It's a recipe that's been passed down through many generations of our family, and as far as I know, never written down, just memorized. Even our non-Italian friends and family say it's their favorite!
flavorsofitaly 10 months, 1 week ago said: RE: Introduce yourself! :) Your turn now, Jules - what your favorite 'warm and fuzzy' dish?
From my mom, that would be her meatloaf. I don't think I've posted the recipe here yet... I'll have to do that. At RecipeZaar: http://www.recipezaar.com/43262
From my dad, that would be his perfect grilled cheese sandwiches. Not here yet, but I'll post it soon. At RecipeZaar: http://www.recipezaar.com/28427
Now I'm hungry! :)
