I purchased a new crock pot... My old rival went belly up..
Well the newer ones are hotter... Mine and my daughters still have a low bubble action on low.. I did a turkey breast and it was done way ahead of the recipe time..
So if your buying a new one... check it out on a weekend when your home so you will know if you have to adjust your recipes...

Thank you for the advice. I've got a Rival that is about 4 years old and it does seem to be faster/hotter than those that I've had years ago. Good to know.

I've got one with a "warm" setting/feature that I use if things get done too fast. Especially watch chicken recipes, or the chicken dries out and tastes like sawdust.
