I think she is a gentle kind woman. As I love Paula but she is getting to be to much like rachel. Ina is always constant in her behaviour ad personality and her food is so good. Paula sometimes just tries to make recipes lately that just dont fly...like baking an entire cake and deep fry it...ugh! Ina is just smooth and cool and everything she makes is incredible...What is with Jeffery? Doesnt seem like they are a match lol.

I am beginning to appreciate Ina more and more. Paula is starting to get on my nerves....ever since my daughter mentioned that she laughs like a witch and gets on her nerves! LOL The power of suggestion, I guess. Sorry, I guess that sounded ugly, and that was not my intention. I have gotten some great recipes and tips from Paula, and admire what she has made of herself given the situation she was in, but, at the same time, some of the other chefs are beginning to appeal to me more. I think she and Rachel Ray are kind of like those songs that we love, they become our favorite, until the radio station runs them in the ground, and we get tired of them...they are 'over exposed' right now, I think.
Saw an episode of Barefoot Contessa last week where she made this wonderful cream of mushroom soup, and a salad. Dessert was simply pears and really nice cheese. Great meal, and great idea! She had a special dinner guest, too, Mel Brooks! Was a great show, and an elegant meal that woud not be hard to prepare!
She fixes some great dinners for Jeffrey, when he is coming home...Bryan has to work all weekend...maybe if the weather is nice he can come home to mushroom soup on the deck, since we don't live near the beach... : )

I agree with every word you typed! I respect paula but enough,..not even mentioning rachael...barf. Ina is consistant and doesnt talk alot.

I adore Ina. In one way I'm glad she isn't as overmarketed as RR is or as Paula is getting to be, but yet I'm also upset that Food Network doesn't have at least TWO shows of her.
Her recipes seem wonderful. And how cute is her husband?

Oh for you non east coasters out there.... first of all, they film at her house which is way out on what we call the east egg, east hampton - (think old old money) which is basically before montauk - its three hours from NYC with the traffic....as for their union, super strong.... you should check out her chefography - way cool, he has been behind her the whole career, while he still struts his stuff. She got into this business almost by accident.
Totally dig her garden too, I like to think I cook like her, her recipes are very do-able, real and she seems approachable more than some of my other faves and not so fave chefs on the foodnetwork.
The one thing about Ina that is so nice, it that she sticks to the basics, the classics, the Julia style of cooking if I may make that correlation. I love to entertain, and only wish I could afford the flowers she has on her tables every time. I would work for her in a second if I could!
