Just Say NO to McDonalds!
Ok, I just dropped off the kidos at school, and passed McDonalds on the way home. Yes that is right, I passed it up. My tummy is growling, and I am now standing in front of the pantry and fridge wondering what to make for breakfast. I don't like breakfast food, and I am out of bananas. My usual quick fix breakfast. Any Suggestion?

RE: Just Say NO to McDonalds!
A bagel usually does it for me.... I know they arent the best thing in the world for you....but its better than doing without.... Ive also found..... even tho you might not like cereal etc..... a bowl of bran flakes... really does hold off the hungries.....I usually cook breakfast for hubby on the weekends... thats when I really do the cooking..

Re: re: Just Say NO to McDonalds!
O.K., I am ashamed to say it.. I ate a bowl of left over chili for breakfast with a glass of water. Tomorrow I will be more prepared!

Chili for breakfast? YUM!
Haha... i do that too sometimes!

I too hate cereals but have found that slicing a banana into my cereals is way yummy!!!
I look forward to eating my cereals if we have a banana to slice in ;)

Zena is right and the whole wheat cereals are yummier too. I like Kelloggs all bran FLAKES (not the sticks) with banana slices, milk and no sugar... mix it all up and eat - yum!

RE: Just Say NO to McDonalds!
I love my leftovers for breakfast, because I'm trying to avoid the carb trap. Bagels and breads just pack on the pounds on me. I make an extra chicken breast and split it over two days for breakfast. Weird, maybe, but my mom followed the principal to eat like a king in the morning, a prince at lunch and a pauper at night. That way you didn't go to bed on a full stomach. Many times we just have a light soup and salad for our supper.

Granola Taco to the Rescue!
Good Morning Everyone!
I left the chili alone, and made my new favorite standby...Granola Taco!

You must share the granola taco method. Please!

Start making your own egg muffins. Its quick and much healthier. All you do is scramble or poach an egg, warm up your candaian bacon and pop it on an english muffin. Don't skip breakfast it leads to immediate blood sugar issues and eventual weight gain. I personally love veggie omlettes for breakfast.

RE: Just Say NO to McDonalds!
Also... not eatting the same thing for breakfast every day helps me out alot.... getting bored with food I think is a reason why some of us over eat.... we are looking for that something special and cant ever find it..... I know alot of times Im eating out of boredom instead of because Im hungry...think about it folks.... how many times have you actually been HUNGRY when you sat down to a meal.... someone said that to me one time and it really made me think.....

Stuffed Pancakes anyone?
Well, have you ever stuffed a pancake? I am going to try something in the morning. I will let you know how it turns out.

I'm a Yogurt Junkie ...
... love vanilla yogurt with granola and raisins mixed in for crunch/texture. So yummy ... like an ice cream sundae for breakfast! :-)

No Stuffed Pancakes...
I ended up with a frozen ..............burrito (walks away in shame)!

Shameful breakfast....?
Kilby, you are just too funny! I don't think it at all shameful to eat chili or a burrito for breakfast. If it is healthy enough for the rest of the day, it is certainly good enough for breakfast. I personally can hardly stomach cereal because I very much dislike sweet stuff. I can eat it tacked on to a meal, but if I try to satisfy my hunger with something sweet (like granola), I just end up with extra calories since I end up craving something non-sweet afterward.

Read some pioneer books about what they ate for breakfast: steak, potatoes, eggs, sausage, fried apples, grits & gravy--and if you're hispanic, you'll eat beans and tortillas! Kudos for skipping McDonalds...AND for eating breakfast, even if it was chili!

BTW, we eat oatmeal almost every morning, especially in fall/winter. We'll have something different (eggs or pancakes) probably twice a week, and also add dried fruit to the oatmeal once a week or eat yogurt with it (which the kids LOVE). Those changes keep it from being too monotonous, it's cheap, the kids can fix it, and it fills our tummies. We go through 50# every 3-4 months, and at $20 a bag, it definitely stretches our budget so we can have something nicer for dinner occasionally.
