I keep powdered milk at all times and when fresh milk is low and money is short I stretch the milk and no one is the wiser. Powdered milk is a life saver during hurricanes and you are eating cereal for days ot a time. If only you could deep chill it in times of need.

So I write out a list usually for a period of two weeks worth of dinners and only buy what is on the list. Also I go shopping everyday, unless I'm making something in the slow cooker then I just get that the day before. I like everything to be fresh, plus it's good exercise. By the end of the two weeks usually two days is when I'm looking around for quarters, as my son likes to say, Peasant meals always taste the best. ( he reads a lot of Redwall books)
