veggie meat
im a semi-vegetarian. read that somewhere. i dont eat red meat, only chicken and fish meat. well, i try not to eat red meat..hahaha...trying to make a lifestyle change here...to be healthy...been having different kind of sickness that i was told by my doctor to lose weight, lower my cholesterol, and be healthy...started going to the gym too.
we have a food outlet here that serve all these delicious food, and they use veggie meat. its kinda cool because i can eat any normal dishes but without the meat and it tastes so great...

was wondering if any of you know how to make the veggie meat? i would like to prepare my food using that.

Veggie meat
I tried it once, many years ago, and it was very time-intensive, plus I didn't think the result was as good as what I was buying at the natural foods grocery. Now I can buy some brands at my local supermarket, which is even more convenient. Morningstar Farms' steak and chicken strips are really good, depending on what you are making.

If you really want a recipe to make your own veggie meat, try Googling. Google comes up with some surprising things.

I'm not sure what types of meat substitutes you're looking for but here are a few ways to make your own:

I've also found several great recipes on this site as well! Tempeh is amazing b/c it really feels like meat - somehow it even feels like a lil bit gristle and burned fat on the edges when you prepare it! My husband pretty much HATES fake meat but loved the BBQ Tempeh I found!

I don't really care for seitan but alot of people swear by it and of course veggie patties/burgers are a staple!

You can also find some really awesome raw veggie patty recipes.... I have one that I love but can't find it.

Hope these help!

RE: veggie meat
I enjoy using St.Yves veggie meat products that I can pick up right at my local grocery store. One package equals 1 1/2 pounds of ground beef and can be used as a substitute in nearly any recipte (meat pies, sloppy joes, spaghetti sauce, etc.). It cooks much quicker than regular ground beef so the recipe preparation needs to be altered slightly - but it sure does taste like the real thing. You can get it in a few flavours - regular, italian, chicken...
