and this: "A vegan cannot be categorized by sex, ethnicity, religion, race, age, income, educational level or sexual orientation. We are everywhere!" WOW - I was getting worried here...
and lastly "Vegans do not eat meat, fish, poultry, dairy, eggs, milk and cheese. Most vegans do not consider honey to be vegan (Cosmo's Vegan Shoppe will not sell items with honey). Most vegans do not wear animal products, including leather, fur, silk and wool (Cosmo's Vegan Shoppe will not sell any item that contain leather, fur, silk and wool). Most vegans do not use shampoos, soaps, toothpastes, razors, perfumes, household cleaners and makeups that are tested on animals or contain animal products (Cosmo's Vegan Shoppe will not sell any item that is tested on animals). Most people decide to go vegan for either ethical, environmental or health issues."
umm who knew it was so complicated to go vegan! -
and I thought I was done...then there's this...if anyone should care....
To help you clarify what a vegan is here's how you can tell the difference from a vegan and a vegetarian:
Vegans are 100% Pure Vegetarians eat only foods that come from plants, like grains, fruits, vegetables, and nuts and they exclude all animal by products from their lifestyle (e.g. meat, eggs, dairy, wool, leather, items that contain animal fats, products tested on animals etc.).
Vegetarianism on the other hand is the practice of living on products of the plant kingdom, with or without the use of eggs and dairy products, but excluding entirely the consumption of any part of the body of an animal as food (including chicken, fish and seafood).
There are Many Types of different Vegetarians. Here are some vegetarian definitions:
* semi-vegetarian: eats meat, but only fish and chicken
* lacto-ovo vegetarian: eats no meat, but will eat dairy products (milk, butter, cheese) and eggs
* ovo-vegetarian: eats eggs, but no meat or dairy products
* vegan (say: vee-gun): eats no meat or animal products
SORRY for the LONG Posting - please do not complain about me - LOL... I'm still confused and will be very careful to select the right catagory for my dishes....have fun everyone!

2. Finely chopped meat.

I think it is the responsibility of the group leader to make that clear and to nicely explain to somebody why their recipe would
be better in another group. then eliminate the ones that don't fit.... I have found most people are great about it when they understand what the group is about.... I am alway greatful that somebody takes the time to add a recipe to the group... even if it's not the right kind for the group..
the other thing is we all sometimes put something in the wrong group... sometimes by clicking the wrong line or sometimes because we forget what the groups guide lines are...
ARICKARD..... my advice is to set up a group that fits what you think should be covered in the group.... make it very clear and then actively take part in whats happening...

Hey I sure have learned a lot from these posts! WOW! However I was just browsing a group and imagine my surprise when I found one of my recipes posted there! i had not chose that particular group but someone thought it fit in so I didn't get riled about it. I wondered if the site catagorizes them when you don't? Just a thought.......hmmm.

MOMto4...... sometimes a group leader will see a recipe that is perfect for the group and will add it.... I've done that myself.... or a person who belongs to the group is looking at your recipes and thinks it would be great in a group they belong to and they will add it..
It's meant as a good thing...

I added someone else''s recipe to my NASCAR group this morning because I thought it would be a great fit. I did send the owner of the recipe a message to make sure it was okay. It was definitely a compliment!

I think it just adds to your recipe's exposure. She thanked my by the way.

Now I am curious about desserts out there with meat. Does anyone know of any?
Mince Meat Pie or Mince Meat turnovers were originally made with pork, I have the recipe from my French grandmother.
Apple Pie can be made VEGAN if you want to and it is cooked. I would post that into a Vegan group or a Vegetarian group.
Poached Pears could be a vegan recipe or vegetarian and it is cooked on top of the stove
I have a recipe for Vegan Carrot cake. Carrots are vegetables and Carrot cake is cooked also.I would post that into a Vegan group or a Vegetarian group.
What do you mean by cooked.
You are not clear as to what you mean by vegetarian.

Far as I know Mincemeat pie contains no meat (raisins and currant etc.)...at least not the way my grandma makes it. Never heard of a dessert with meat.

Slap... slap... be nice...
Michael.. I think they were joking! LOL
Momto4, I think it depends on the mincemeat recipe.. I know that my grandma made her own.. it called for "suet"... Back in the old days.. ingredients were not as easy to find. Someone needs to "Google" this! And people were more frugal.. using every scrap of product.. including the "suet".. and lard. And we wonder why we have heart problems in America!

yes mincemeat did contain suet back in the olden days as well as meat.... the more modern version does not have either...

This is what I came up with from answerscom
mince·meat (mĭns'mēt')
n.
1. A mixture, as of finely chopped apples, raisins, spices, meat, and rum or brandy, used especially as a pie filling.
2. Finely chopped meat.
Sorry... I was not being rude, Just never heard of "meat" in mincemeat.
However I guess different backgrounds and nationalities do things differently.
No rudeness to anyone intended!

I've never been a fan of minced meat pies. I think the newer recipes have just deleted the meat. I remember having them on the table when I was young and they had lots of stuff but no meat. Just never could enjoy the way those pies were made. I still don't think I could eat it...or raisin pie, either, for that matter.
(Shepherds pie doesn't have shepherds in it but I DO love that!) ;)
OK, don't hurt me, I've had a rough afternoon and needed something to boost my mood.
