if you are not close to drinking that amount of water, don't try to increase all at once.. add a little more each day..
why is drinking this amount of water important: Dr. Mao
Water is essential for all healthy body functions. Centenarians from around the globe cite their native water as the source of their health and longevity - and the scientists agree with them. What they all have in common is pure water sources located far from any city, free from chemicals and toxins. Choose filtered water; the best filtration processes are the ones that use activated charcoal, which removes the impurities but leaves the water-soluble minerals. Also, do not store water in plastic containers because the polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) can leach into the water.

Still not good to drink that many! I don't like lemon in water, but something I DO like that might help someone else is a squeeze from a lime wedge in my water!
Also, I was looking this up online today, and found a site that helps you calculate how much water your own body needs to be healthy - depending on weight and your level of physical activity, you might need more than 8 glasses (according to this site). Am posting a link here in case anyone is interested.
And Thanks Peeta, for getting this group going again! I think having some guidelines, support, and encouragement will make a world of difference in our progress.
