Best pot for growing herbs?
I have a bunch of basil seedlings. What is the best kind of pot to grow these in?

RE: Best pot for growing herbs?
My basil usually gets pretty tall, I hope this isn't a dumb reply, but I would make sure it was a fairly large pot and don't plant them too close together. Also, don't know if you know this or not, but you should pinch back the flowers. I end up planting basil every year. We love it with fresh tomatoes out of the garden, or if you can't grow them, from a farm market.

I would agree...pinch off the flower buds as they form if you're not taking cuttings of stems from the plants regularly. The other thing is, the more you cut, snip, pinch, etc, the more the plant(s) will bush out (as opposed to just getting taller) and your harvest will increase from the additional stems the plants put out. I think I've always grown it in the ground, so I'm sorry I can't help with pot suggestions.

i use..
those metal ber tubs from target, they are about $10 - comei n pretty colours - and with a couple taps int he bottom, are good to go. Basil spreads, as well as indian curry, thyme and mint! so the bigger the pot, the bigger the reward. ;) good luck.

Growing Basil
I am not sure if you have figured out your basil pots yet, but on the premise that you might be trying it again this year, I have a good solution. I have been using Earth Boxes http://www.earthbox.com/ for about five years now. Herbs LOVE them! They are a little costly but they last forever and can be put in full sun...making the herbs especially happy and keeping them organic, fertilized, and moist during the long summer months. Basil grows like a small bush in them.
I have to container garden a lot because the soil where I live is clay.
Happy Herbing!
