Have prepped cold shrimp plates with remoulade sauce, cucumber sandwiches on dark pumpernickel bread, mini hot browns (open face whole wheat toast/topped with a slice of turkey/plum tomato/crisp bacon and mornay sauce) Hubby is getting stir crazy and a little fun food while under house arrest seems to be in order. I think the brownies will be his favorite. Since he quit smoking, food has become a tasty treat again and he is always hungry!! So I'll just stretch out the afternoon with treats. Leftovers will work for lunches next week. Have a great day dears, I've missed you all.

The Baby Hot Browns recipe is posted by askask, I just changed to a mornay sauce topping. Really, hubby has gained an appetite, just when food prices are sky-rocketing, he gets hungry. I'll have to start calling him a chow hound instead of just a hound.
Have a great trip Pat! Cape Cod is gorgeous. Last visit was in 1985...sure it has changed immensely, but I loved it so then.

but since we didn't get the chance, we ended up making really tasty grilled rib eye steak, oven roasted fennel with parmesan (every day italian by Guida;s recipe) - which was awesome, corn and for dessert - wonderful strawberry glazed pie...
never did it before, but it really worked, used a little of sugar along with salt and freshed cracked pepper on steak - made for a quick sear and gorgeous grill marks...which I learned today at sshh.. at another recipe site... allrecipes dot com
