Mother's Day Mayhem?
Cooking or not, I hope you all have a wonderful relaxing day doing what just what you want to do today.

After stuffing our faces last night, I'm thinking I better be a little more frugal today and use up some of the largesse from our friends. Someone posted a yummy spaghetti pie around here somewhere, maybe that will be enough of change to shake up the hubby's tastebuds. With a salad and some leftover brownies, I won't have to work too much and we can just relax.

nym - hoping you have a wonderful day today!

Im off to a BBQ, so I am bringing my salsa, baked beans, and shirley oma's strawberry whipped sensation I did in a round spring form pan this time and did layers with the ingredients, and some chilled white wine.... we are also having grilled lamb that has been marinating in cumin, allspice and other spices for a Mediterranean flair over night, homemade hummus, and cilantro spicy pesto. All posted except the lamb...There will be a lot more...but off to do chores before I go...

RE: Mother's Day Mayhem?
Dinners sound great. Beautiful day here so grilling burgers tonight and I will make fried potatoes to go with them.

Happy Mother's Day to all!

RE: Mother's Day Mayhem?
Oh that lamb marinade sounds wonderful. I love the flavors of cumin and all spice. I was just reading about a pan seared carmalized lamb chop with parsley butter and drooling, then I see your post. More drool. Maybe that spaghetti pie will wait for another day and I'll get my rear in gear and go to the store for some chops instead. LOL

Pat, double yum on the fried potatoes.

Have a memorable day, dears.

First. Happy Mother's Day to all the cooking Moms out there. And those that don't cook too! As for me, hosting a family barbecue for 18 of my family today. I'm grilling rib eyes and chicken, French potato salad, Amish pasta salad, a huge green salad and pickled beets and onions. The rest of my cousins are bringing appetizers and desserts and my brother the shrimp. Dinner is at 2 o'clock and always room (and food) for more for anyone who wants to stop over! :)

David

RE: Mother's Day Mayhem?
David: is the brother a shrimp? lol, just kidding...I must have read it wrong.. sounds like Im going over to your house for leftover rib eye steaks! I should be there about 4pm...
I will get the recipe today on those lamb chops with the cumin and all spice marinade, I have had them before and they are amazing, super tender!

RE: Mother's Day Mayhem?
David, dinner sounds fantastic. Love the sound of the lamb chops. Are they posted?

RE: Mother's Day Mayhem?
David, do you do your own pickled beets and onions? I'll be right over. My family can not abide beets and I never get to have any good beets (insert long sigh and whine).
Love roasted beets and all beet salads. I'll just have to be like the little red hen and make some for myself. (tiny pout, and foot stamp ala *pink*)

LOL, my brother the shrimp. Y'all are funnin' this morning.

RE: Mother's Day Mayhem?
Yes....make my own pickled beets and onions. Come for lunch.....I have a great recipe for roasted beet salad with orange and goat cheese..........white wine optional!

RE: Mother's Day Mayhem?
roasted beet salad with orange and goat cheese, sounds yummo!

RE: Mother's Day Mayhem?
My husband just left for work so I'm going to have leftover London broil thinly slice and wrapped around a thin slice of sweet pickle and Havarti cheese... and then I don't know what I'm having with it...

David it sounded like your BBQ was delicious...

RE: Mother's Day Mayhem?
I love Hardee's biscuits and gravy so we went there for breakfast today. It was the last of the breakfast so our fresh biscuits were loaded down with lots of sausage and gravy. For not being homemade, it's pretty darned good and quite the treat for me. At least I don't have to clean up the mess.
For dinner, I'm having leftover rotis chicken, mustard potato salad and cole slaw. It was good yesterday and will be good today, then it's gone.

RE: Mother's Day Mayhem?
Sounds good TP. We have rotis chicken tomorrow night with potato salad and sliced tomatoes!
