Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
Lots of people have food idiosyncracies, whether it's only eating certain foods a certain wya, or before a specific event, or something you eat that everyone else things is weird. What is/are yours?

Me, I like mayonaise in my pinto beans! Have eaaten it that way my whole life, my brother too!

When I was little, I would not let my food touch, but I am past that now.

My boss will only eat ketchup for the same restaurant as the food. If we drive through McDonalds for lunch, she has to have ketchup from McDonalds...never mind that there are a million packs from Hardees and a big bottle of it in the fridge in the breakroom, she has to have it from the same place LOL

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
Mine is toasted peanut butter and bacon sandwiches!
No one else will even try it!

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
Hi Sparow! I'm still in the "no mingle" mode. I don't like the flavors of different foods to merge....steak/salad dressing - yuck (I know....and yes I marinate meat in Italian dressing) potato salad and gravy even grosses me out. I Know!
We go to Cracker Barrel and hubby orders the big breakfast and mooshes Everything including the biscuits and gravy together....I can't look at it without gagging. I make lots of dishes like lasagna, some casseroles, meatloaf...that I can eat, but only if they don't mingle with other foods on the plate......again.......I Know, it's weird.

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
I have to have potato chips with tuna fish....I even put them in my sandwich

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
OhOhOh!!
I forgot this one because I haven't had it in a very, very long time!
Toasted ripple potato chips and ketchup sandwiches!
Yep !! It is GOOOOOD!
If anyone trys it let me know!
My Aunt ate it all the time when I was growing up and she got me hooked!!

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
I don't like certain foods to touch, either. When I'm eating eggs and pancakes on the same plate, I'll prop the back of the plate up on my knife laid flat under it, and put my eggs on the high part and the pancakes with syrup on the front.
I also like mayonnaise on hot dogs and mayonnaise and sliced onions on peanut butter on toasted whole wheat sandwiches.

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
wow this is so funny - to learn of your what makes you go mmmm...
id have to think about this one. I am sure I have my own concoctions

though I do love my grilled cheese with bacon sandwiches served with a side of commercially made honey mustard sauce for dipping. if when I go to Mcdonalds - love their sweet and sour sauce with ff''s. I am sure there are more...oh yeah store bought chocolate chips dunked in fruit juice - the juice that comes in those large cans...havent done that for years.

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
baked beans mixed with white rice when I eat fish is a childhood favorite of mine. My husband has to have some ketchup and macaroni whenever we cook macaroni. I admit I'm not a food mixer either. I put stuff on my plate and begin by eating a DMZ between each type of food. Cracks my friends up....

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
and at the movies... raisinettes mixed in with my popcorn...they slightly melt and are so good! heheeehe

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
Chocolate and raisins freak me out! I also eat one food at a time. I'll eat all of the veggies, then all of the meat...no bread and no sweet dessert. Iam...OMG, ketchup and macaroni....sounds like my hubby.
Although, when I go to the movie theatre, I have buttered popcorn with jalapenio and mustard.

TP, your Artisan bread is the exception...my family Loves it.

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
There are several things that I go crazy over but the only thing that I can think of at the moment is a good whole wheat toast BLT, using garden fresh tomatoes and lettuce. I could eat my weight in those, even with the tomato/mayo juice running down my arms. YUMMMMM

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
In college, we had no money really so my roommates`and I made sandwiches out of white bread , Pb, bananas , lettuce, onion and mayo. Sounds completely digusting and it probably is. Since I have insomnia tonight, I may just make one for the hell of it and report back to tell you what it was like..or not!! lol

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
Oh, gg...yacking as I type! :>~~~

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
sorry, rml...and to think I actually ate that!! WOW

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
I have to agree about the pancakes, there is NO breakfast food besides pancakes, waffles, or french toast that should EVER come in contact with the maple syrup!! LOL I don't like sweet meat for the most part, either. I am beginning to like a taste of honey and or citrus in a marinade, but that's new for me, and I really like it. But, I still cringe if a meat dish looks like it's going to have a sweet taste. And forget putting sugar in a tomato sauce...that's why God created garlic...LOL Sugar is for dessert, or tea! LOL

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
I used to eat yellow ball mustard and green olive sandwiches on white bread, with a tiny squirt of catsup. A condiment sandwich cuz I was too poor for lunchmeat. Actually liked it. Can't stomach the thought of it now.

BBQ sauce on mac and cheese, if extra spicy and not too sweet. Love the spicy catsup they are making these days.

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
That reminds me, Tina...cream cheese and green olive sandwiches on white bread with mayo! My mom made this for me when I was little, and I love them today. She used to get them at a diner in downtown Knoxville when she was young and worked at Woolworth's, only they served them on raisin bread (ewwww - can't stand the thought of mixing the olives and the raisins! ha ha).

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
I like cheese and mayo sandwiches without any meat, have since I was a kid, but now I only eat them when I am sick (comfort food). My husband loves homemade noodles and ketchup.
momto4- pb and bacon sounds yummy now I am hungry for breakfreast!

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
Peanut butter and mustard sandwiches. I ate them all time as a kid, go figure. I can't stand mushrooms in anything or calamari either, even if they are chopped really small I can still feel them and have to spit them out. Ughh......

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
I used to eat Peanut butter on bread dipped in spaghetti sauce, I didn't like spaghetti sauce as a kid and the peanut butter covered up the sauce taste.....The thought of it now gags me.

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
I grew up on PB and Mayo sandwiches, or PB, Banana and Mayo. Any sandwich had mayo, unless you specifically said PB and Jelly!

My ex-mother-in-law used to eat PB and Tomato

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
I thought I was the only one with gag me taste :o)....
If I ever worked for the CIA...I could be tortured to tell all if someone made me eat a bologna and mayo sandwhich....I think I was the only kid on the block who hated both...but then the only food I liked as a kid was peanut butter...wish it was still the same, I love food now.....FOODIE!!

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
rml - they actually serve at the movies: buttered popcorn with jalapenio and mustard? Or do you make up your own concoction?

wynne - loved the gacking ;>~~~ too funny!

RE: Things that make you go hmmmmm.....
All the odd peanut butter combinations posted here!! I used to work with a guy who ate peanut butter and onion sandwiches. I never could bring myself to try that. He insisted they were delicious. Smelled awful.

I think the only "odd" thing I like is a slice of cucumber with a slice of cheddar cheese on top. I like the flavor combinations.

One thing that makes my stomach turn is the thought of hot mayonnaise. If I see a recipe where mayonnaise is one of the ingredients that is cooked or heated up, I can't finish reading it. :-P I don't even know where that comes from!
