I know it's gross, I get freaked out if I bite into something and it has a grizzley thing or something's not right...never have handeled that like a lady...bleccch!! and into the napkin...anyone else have the embarrasing moment or am I the ony gaggy gal here??

I was at a formal dinner awards banquet one time, and took a bite of roast beef only to find that it was mostly grissle. And of course, was sitting at a round table, where I was positioned just exactly in front of the speaker! Geeeez!

yup, im sure its happen to everyone here - one time though renting out a summer house, my mom added a whole bunch of coffee to her gravy - whereby my pal poured it all over her chicken or meat - whatever was served - the look on her face horrid, me not pouring the gravy on my meat...priceless. Everyone gagged that had the gravy..including the 'adult' friends of my mothers..im just not a fan of coffee in anything except hot, cold or as ice cream...it was like a scene from the 'goonies' if anyone remembers that one...

I have also swallowed somthing without chewing it (hoping I wouldn't choke to death) just to avoid the emabarrasment...not recommended. lol

just saw anthony bordain do it yesterday in an episode where he was in Paris - he literally put it in a plastic bag, then the chef/owner came around - he was almost caught...
I would have too - it was a calves head with fat and other stuff...yucky poo!

Is that the guy that eats the REALLY weird stuff?? Bald guy? If so I have had to turn the chanel...I could feel the gag reflexes kicking in....he was eating rotting meat (a specialty of the area he was in) really.. and he said he couldn't get the taste out of his nose! gaaaaaagggggggggggh.

gramma - definitely check out his shows if you havent yet, not necessarily to cook anything he tastes or makes in his restaurant, but more for his interesting take on the food and his willingness to try anything at least once - this guy is a real cook from NY and when you need to be entertained while doing household chores, he's funny to have on the boob tube, smart, sassy, with a flair for words

I went on a trip with my parents, when I was 17....to Bermuda - beautiful! Anyway, the "cocktail" party had lots of snackies....My Dad said "Oh, Renee...you need to try this."
I asked what it was....."a cracker with cream cheese and a blackberry on top." Well, I took a bite and instead of creamy/fruity/sweet taste.....I get salty, fishy, fishy, fishy icky taste.
Your mind set is on fruit, but instead you get fishy..........I still give him grief over that! Even though my parents brought me to Bermuda. It was a great trip.
I swallowed the fish eggs and went back to my room. I had a passing thought of giving birth to itty bitty fishies.........eauwwwwwww!

Your story reminded me of when I was young and single...I was in a bar and ordered a shot of tequila....The bartender gave me Southern Comfort by mistake and it came up as fast as it went down....Thankfully not all over the bartender...I know what you mean about getting something other than what you expect....

My grandfather owned a farm and his speciality was head cheese. Yep, you got it, he would boil a pig's head, eye balls and all and make lunch meat out of it. I was about 6 and fascinated by the head in the pot, but when I tasted the nasty stuff...well let's just say, my breakfast came up with it. Anyway, now I just do the ol' napkin thingy thing.

Diva, I will check Anthon's show out....I've never been home during the day to watch much TV, I have worked the last 25 years...I thought I would go nuts being home now...nope, I have adjusted well, I love this site and the cooking shows. It's friggen cold outside & raining, SO I am going to get big fluffy slippers on, keep my robe on, hair in a towel, a box of chocolates at my side and turn the boob tube on...Ahhh...this is the life.

RML....EWWWWW is right!!!! I accidently ate Caviar ....I don't like fish anything so it wasn't to pretty and I am very dramatic, (so I've been told) I embarassed my parents...oh, and I hate tuna too.

and gramma58: his show is also on at night, and I think he is still on occassion of the travel channel too, I believe...
