I know, seems like you already know this but you have to really listen to your body. When you are not hungry anymore, stop. You do not have to be 'full' just not hungry. Go for number 6 on the hunger scale, pleasantly satisfied. It actually takes some time to know the feeling when you have ignored it for so long.
Sometimes you might not be sure if you are still hungry. Take another bite, enjoy it. Wait a little bit. You should find as you go on, that you do not enjoy it as much as you did when you first started eating. If you look at you plate and think that you haven't eaten enough and think that you will be hungry again in ten minutes, put it away. You can always have some more in ten minutes if you like, nearly every home has a microwave. Remember that if you are hungry, eat, even if it is just ten minutes later.
One last thing. Most people growing up would be told by their parents not to leave food on their plates. Being a member of the clean plate club myself, Paul says that you should ALWAYS leave something on your plate. Retrain you brain that a new sheriff is in town and that you do not have to eat everything on your plate.

Marna explains the full feeling and how to eat slowly and mindfully.
