Thunderous Tuesday?
Whatever the weather system, what are you planning this evening?

We have had some big thunderstorms, we gratefully needed all the rain, but the lightning was particularly impressive and frightening, too.
No outdoor grilling in that storm.

I'm making the fish I skipped last night, and making Pleclare's cucumber, mint orange salad.
Steamed green veggie or corn on the cob for the side. Have a good day ya'll.

RE: Thunderous Tuesday?
Hope you enjoy the salad Tina. We are having tuna, macaroni salad, hard boiled eggs, tomatoes and cottage cheese. The weather is due to be cooler tomorrow,Thank God.

RE: Thunderous Tuesday?
Yeah buddy! Temperature is due to drop below 70 degrees tonight. No fish for me. It's a shame mother doesn't like fish. There are a lot of fish recipes in this forum I would like to try.

I'll be on the road today. Already spent 3 hours cutting grass. Going to be sorely tempted to have some fast food, but I'm still working on polishing off the coconut rice I made several days ago. The recipe called for 2 cups uncooked rice, which is 6 cups finished product. If I ever make this dish again, it will definately(sp) be cut in half.

Hey Point - is there a way to do a cold coconut rice salad of sorts? Not that you need to stretch what you already made.

Last night since I had already started the corn, but craved potato - I thought I had turned off the heat under the corn. Well, you guessed it, after I went back upstairs to the kitchen after eating my great dinner, yikes! With the kitchen fan on (thankfully), the corn was burnt and stuck to the pan, and the pan I am not sure if it can be salvaged. I didn't dare put it in the water till this morning when it had completely cooled. And it's a pan of my mothers nearly a 60 year old coper bottom revere pan - urgh...and polish these babies after every use.

Staying away from my copper bottom pans tonight, and making me some fancy rib eye steak on the stove top grill, grilled veggies and salad. Staying away from starches... well that is except for some banana cake with the lemon frosting I still have.

Aw, Leah, honey I feel your pain on the revere ware!!! I treasure mom's stuff and even though it is difficult to clean, it is the best of the cookware I have. How sad if you can't salvage it. Have you tried to soak a little baking soda and lemon juice in the pot? Sometimes that will loosen the black stuff.

Pat that cold supper sounds delightful. I think I need to make mom's nicoise salad one night, it is so yummy.

PEO, you are working way too hard in the heat, I'm glad it cooled off a bit for you. No heat strokes allowed, okay?

RE: Thunderous Tuesday?
I have already combined the coconut rice with some homemade yogurt. Thinking of putting some Miracle Whip Salad Dressing in it too. That's not stretching it too bad.
Stopped in at a steak house instead of fast food today.
Getting up early in the mornings to give the grass its hair cut, before it gets too hot. Think I have 3 more acres to go before the long stuff is beat back. Then I can start on a regular clipping schedule and it won't take as long to get it done. I've amassed quite a gas bill just mowing the lawn. 20 acres is quite a plate full when it has gone jungle on you.

RE: Thunderous Tuesday?
20 acres? You have your own sports field Point? Wow... that is a lot to mow! We started with almost 2 acres.. and let some go back to nature. Now have mesquite trees growing ...

I posted the wrong thing on the wrong day... today we had the fried squash... tomatoes.. etc.. not yesterday... My bad!

RE: Thunderous Tuesday?
Hope you collect the dead wood from the mesquite trees for smoking meat. I think mesquite is so much better than hickory or applewood.
