Case in point, for the longest time my mother thought capers were fish eggs! My aunt's friend is Lebanese, so she was my first introduction to Mediterranean cuisine. I believe it was cooked kibbeh. It is now one of my favorites - Greek, Turkish, Lebanese, Moroccan - it's all good!

I am excited to try to make some of the recipes you have on the site and hopefully add a few of my own.

She gave me a sample of one of her dishes and I loved it. This is probably all wrong but I think it was beef (maybe lamb), celery, parsley and a little rice, all in a nice broth. It seemed to be simple but quite wonderful. If anyone might have a recipe that resembles this, I would really love to have it.

I think that was my first experience, and I've loved Greek food ever since! I don't recall exactly what we had to eat, but I know there was lamb, spanikopita, and baklava.
