Dorie Greenspan's Baking: From My Home to Yours
Anyone who has visited my blog will know that I'm completely enamored with this book. I've made about a dozen of the recipes already and I only got the book for Christmas. This is one of those rare books where I want to make absolutely every recipe from it. Alot of the recipes also have a "playing around" section, where it gives you variations on the recipe for different twists that you know will work. Dorie will also walk you through recipes with comments like "the batter will look curdled, that's ok". I appreciate that. Bottomline- anyone who bakes, or wants to bake, should have this book.

I, too, have this book and am not nearly so thrilled with it as brilynn. Time and again I felt her recipes fall short of the wonderful ones of Maida Heatter. I liked dorie Greenspan's precise instructions and descriptions, as the recipes progress, but each one I tried found I had done something better already, usually from Maida heatter.

I decided to add this to my recipe book collection and enjoyed going thru the pages. I do wish each category had the recipes listed therein but I did thumb thru it all and earmarked a few pages. I agree with brilynn that her walk thru recipes gives it a more personal touch. This is one book that is a must have.

Love this book. Got it for Christmas. Had been drooling over it for ages. This is The book I would purchase to give to the New Bride or Newbie Baker because it does walk you through each recipe A great Learning Book. I also own Maida's book. It too is fabulous and her recipe for Carrot cake is worth buying the book alone. I could not give up either . That being said Dorie's definitely has the edge because of her wonderful pics. I like to see what I am making. I may look at a recipe and see that it has a certain ingredient that I am not fond of so therefore will not even try.... but if I see some fabulous photo I would. So the recipe will get a fair test.. When people come over they grab a pen and paper to copy recipes from Maida's book..... when they see Dorie's they say Gotta Have This One. If Maida had done the same Oh what A perfect world it would be.....Moral... The Eyes Are Not Just The Window To The Soul.... But The Window To The Belly as well.
