How to make it

  • This makes a lot depending on the amount of ingredients you get so choose a bowl to assemble in that you think will be appropriate. To give you some idea, our family of 4 will eat this over 4 days generally
  • Cut your cake into 1 cm thick rounds and layer the entire bowl, covering the sides.
  • Using your choice of liqueur or coffee (I much prefer hazlenut) moisten the cake.
  • Mix up the choc mousse according to packet directions and place 2/3 in the bottom of the bowl over the layer of cake.
  • Cover mousse in another cake layer and cover with liqueur.
  • Cover with remaining mousse, another layer of cake and then top the whole lot with whipped cream,
  • Cover the lot in flaked chocolate and fresh sliced strawberries
  • Chill for a couple of hours to set the cream and mousse
  • NOTE: The cream is best without any sugar or flavouring because the richness of the chocolate cake and mousse really welcomes the freshness of the unflavoured cream. It lightens the whole lot and is what makes it special for me. The acidity of the strawberries compliments the entire dish
