How to make it

  • heat a large skillet to medium heat
  • add dry almonds and toast for 3 minutes or until opaque and slightly golden
  • place toasted almonds to the side and add bacon, cooking till crisp
  • remove bacon and add Brussels sprouts to pan (don't drain oil as it will be easily and quickly absorbed by the very dry sprouts.)
  • (optional: this is a good time to add the red pepper.)
  • Add salt and pepper and cover with a heavy lid just smaller than your pan. The pressure will help carmelize the sprouts.
  • Cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add garlic and lemon juice after about 10 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve and enjoy.
