How to make it

  • Combine sugar, cornstarch, nutmeg and salt in a saucepan.
  • Gradually stir in buttermilk and beaten egg yolks. Add prunes and cook, stirring constantly until mixture thickens.
  • Boil one minute.
  • Pour into pie shell and chill.
  • Serve with whipped cream or meringue.
  • For meringue topping beat together egg whites and sugar until fluffy.
