Banana Cream Pie Recipe

How to make it

  • Combine sugar, flour, cornstarch and salt. Blend well.
  • Add scaled milk. Cook over low flame or in double boiler, stirring constantly until very thick.
  • Just before taking from fire add in well-beaten egg yolks and stir thoroughly. Take from fire and stir in butter and vanilla. Cool.
  • Slice bananas over bottom of baked pie shell.
  • Add cooled filling, cover with meringue and brown.
  • If preferred bananas may be sliced over top of the cream filling rather than under it. Sweetened strawberries or other fruit may be used in place of the bananas.
