Overnight Sausage Omelette Strata

- 1 pound pork breakfast sausage (or your favourite type) shopping list
- 6 slices white bread, crusts removed shopping list
- 1 cup grated Cheddar or Emmental cheese or combination thereof shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard powder shopping list
- 2 cups milk shopping list
How to make it
- Broil sausage for 20 minutes, drain and cut into bite sized pieces. Alternatively, pop them out of their skins, crumble and fry.
- Cut bread into 1/2" cubes.
- Lightly butter a 12×8" casserole dish.
- Layer bread, then sausage, then cheese into dish, making three layers in total.
- Blend together eggs with salt, mustard powder and milk and pour over layered ingredients. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- In the morning, remove casserole from fridge about 45 minutes before baking. Preheat oven to 350F and bake, uncovered, about 90 minutes.
- Serve immediately.
