How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • Line a cookie sheet with foil & place a layer of saltine crackers on foil
  • In a medium heavy saucepan over medium heat bring butter and brown sugar to a boil
  • Boil 3-5 min stirring occasionally
  • Pour butter/sugar mixture evenly over crackers and spread with the back of a large spoon
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips over toffee mixture
  • Put pan in 400 degree oven & bake for 5 minutes
  • Remove pan from oven and cool 3 minutes. Spread chocolate chips with the back of a large spoon.
  • Sprinkle walnut pieces over chocolate
  • Cool pan then refrigerate for 1 hour or until hard.
  • Break into chunks
  • Keep toffee refrigerated until ready to serve
