Homemade Graham Crackers
From nhmomma 13 years agoIngredients
- 1 1/4 Cup All Purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 Cup brown sugar (light) shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 3 1/2 Tablespoons butter shopping list
- 2 1/2 Tablespoons honey shopping list
- 2 1/2 Tablespoons milk shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon molasses (Grandma's) shopping list
How to make it
- After combining this mixture you have to let it sit in the fridge (wrapped tightly in plastic wrap) over night. DON'T try to use it right away...you'll have a huge oven mess on your hands!
- Combine in an electric mixer the Flour through Salt and blend.
- Add the Butter and blend to resemble coarse crumbs.
- Add the Honey through Molasses and blend to combine, scrape the bowl if need be. These ingredients will make the mixture sticky.
- Scrape onto plastic wrap and cover tightly. Refrigerate!!!
- The next day...Preheat oven to 350 degrees... sprinkle a generous amount of flour on your work surface, place dough ontop and sprinkle the dough with plenty of flour. Roll the dough out to about 1/8" thickness. Use cookie cutters, or a pizza cutter to make crackers. Bake on silpat or parchment lined sheet pans. Bake for about 6 minutes, rotate your pans and bake for 6 minutes more.
- Once the crackers puff up and then flatten out you they are very close to being done. Watch them carefully...nothing like a burnt graham!
- Remove from pan and let them cool on racks. They will get harder as they cool. If you notice that they are still a bit soft, place only the soft ones back into the oven for a few minutes. Check often!!!
- You'll notice that the crackers will be light in color when you place them on the sheet pans, but will get a lot darker when baked.
