Torta De Dona Lourdes

- 1 kg flour shopping list
- 5 eggs shopping list
- 1 kg sugar shopping list
- 1 cup butter shopping list
- 1 spoonful of baking soda (I think she meant teaspoon, please correct if you disagree) shopping list
- 1 Tablespoon vanilla essence shopping list
- 1 litre of milk or lemon soda - she used powdered milk reconstituted. shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees celcius
- Grease a large cake tin or two medium sized
- Sift flour
- Beat eggs well until light and fluffy
- Add sugar & butter to eggs & beat a little more.
- Add vanilla and milk & beat once more
- Add flour & fold into mixture
- Lastly add the baking soda and combine.
- Cook in preheated oven for approximately 50 minutes.
- Once cooled cover with chocolate or for a traditional Bolivian style:
- Beat egg whites together until almost stiff, add sugar and a squeeze of lemon and continue beating until stiff. Pour over cake. They are never precise with measurements where I was so you have to make it up as you go with this topping.
