Chocolate Meringues

- 1 cup (6 oz.) semisweet chocolate chips shopping list
- 2 egg whites shopping list
- 1/2 tsp white vinegar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp vanilla or almond extract shopping list
- 1/4 tsp cream of tartar shopping list
- 1/8 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup flaked coconut shopping list
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds shopping list
How to make it
- In a microwave or a heavy saucepan, melt the chocolate chips.
- Stir until smooth
- Set aside
- In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites, vinegar, vanilla, cream of tartar, and the salt on medium speed until soft peaks form.
- Add the sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time
- Beat on high until stiff peaks form, about 5 minutes
- Fold in the melted chocolate until combined
- Fold in the coconut and the almonds
- Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto lightly greased baking sheets
- Bake at 350 F for 10-11 minutes or until firm
- Remove to wire racks to cool
- Store in an airtight container
