Classic Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies

- 1/2 cup (1 stick, 4 oz.) unsalted butter shopping list
- 1/2 (3 1/4 oz.) vegetable shortening shopping list
- 1 cup (8 oz.) brown sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup (3 1/2 oz.) granulated sugar shopping list
- 2 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 3/4 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 tbsp cider vinegar or white vinegar shopping list
- 1 large egg shopping list
- 1 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 2 cups (8 1/2 oz.) unbleached flour shopping list
- 3 cups (18 oz.) semisweet chocolate chips shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat the oven to 350 F
- Lightly grease (or line with parchment) two baking sheets
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, shortening, both of the sugars, vanilla, salt, and vinegar.
- Beat in the egg, then the baking soda, and flour.
- Stir in the chocolate chips
- Drop the dough by the tablespoonful onto the prepared baking sheets
- Bake the cookies for 12 to 14 minutes or until they are golden brown
- Remove the cookies from the oven
- Transfer to a rack to cool
