Butterscotch-oatmeal Cookies

- 3/4 cup sifted flour shopping list
- 3/4 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 1/8 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon shopping list
- 1/2 cup shortening shopping list
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1 cup quick-cooking oats shopping list
How to make it
- Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon
- Set aside
- Cream together the shortening, brown sugar, and sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy, using an electric mixer at medium speed
- Add the egg
- Beat well
- Gradually stir in the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture
- Blend well
- Stir in the oats
- Drop the mixture by rounded teaspoonfuls, about 3 inches apart, onto the prepared cookie sheets
- Bake in a preheated 325 F oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown
- Remove from the baking sheets
- Cool on wire racks
