- DOUGH: shopping list
- 8 egg yolks shopping list
- 2 cups all purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 lb. unsalted butter cut into chunks shopping list
- pinch salt shopping list
- FILLING: shopping list
- 1/2 lb. finely ground walnuts shopping list
- 1/2 lb. fruit sugar shopping list
- 8 egg whites shopping list
- 1/2 lemon, juice and zest shopping list
How to make it
- DOUGH:
- Knead butter into flour with hands
- Add yolks 1-2 at a time
- Mix after each addition
- Add salt
- Mix
- Form into walnut size balls
- Place in lightly floured bowl and prinkle flour on balls to keep from sticking
- Refrigerate overnight
- Roll each ball into small circles
- Add 1/2 tsp. spoonful of filling
- Fold dough over and pinch edges together
- Shape into crescent form
- Place on ungreased cookie sheet
- Bake at 375F for 5-7 minutes till light golden brown
- Cool on rack
- Roll in fruit sugar
- FILLING:
- Beat egg whites until stiff
- Mix together rest of filling ingredients
- Gently fold into beaten egg whites
- Fill dough as above
- Store in airtight containers
- May be frozen (if you manage to keep them around that long)
