How to make it

  • Sift flour, salt and soda together. Add the milk slowly and beat till smooth. Then add the melted butter and fry on a slightly greased hot griddle. If desired, a well-beaten egg may be added at the last, when it will be necessary to use a little more flour. The cakes will be more tender without the egg. These cakes mey be made with sweet milk, substituting four level teaspoons of baking powder for the soda.
