Devil's Food Cake

This is from an old Pillsbury cookbook that is falling apart. I don't have the front cover and part of the pages are torn. So, I'm going to share these before the book is completely destroyed. This recipe is typed just as it is, sorry if there is any confusion, but I know nothing about it.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup chocolate shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup milk shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 2 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter shopping list
- 1 egg + 1 yolk shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- 1 tsp soda shopping list
- 2 cups Pillsbury's Best shopping list
How to make it
- Put the 1/2 cup of milk in a double boiler. Melt the chocolate and add to it 1/2 cup sugar, and one egg, well-beaten. When the milk is boiling hot add it. Put back into boiler and cook 5 minutes. Remove and let it cool. Cream together one cup sugar and 1/2 cup butter, add one egg + one yolk and beat for 5 minutes. Then add the cup of milk with the soda dissolved in it, and then the flour. Lastly add the vanilla and combine the two mixtures. Mix thoroughly and bake in layers. Put together with chocolate filling.
