Meatball Heroes Italian Style

- 1/3 cup Italian breadcrumbs shopping list
- 1/3 cup chopped green onions shopping list
- salt and black pepper, to taste shopping list
- 1 lb. lean ground beef or turkey shopping list
- 1 tbsp. olive oil shopping list
- 1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms shopping list
- 1 large green pepper, chopped shopping list
- 1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes in thick puree shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp. italian seasoning shopping list
- 6 Italian rolls, split shopping list
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In medium bowl, combine breadcrumbs, green onions, salt and pepper.
- Add ground beef and mix well.
- Shape into 1 1/2 inch meatballs.
- Place on ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake for 10 mins or until no longer pink; drain on paper towel
- Heat oil in large skillet over medium high heat.
- Add mushrooms and green bell pepper; cook until tender, about 3 mins.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low and add meatballs; cook uncovered, 4 to 5 mins.
- Spoon meatballs and sauce onto each roll.
- Sprinkle each with 2 tbsp. cheese.
- Heat in oven until cheese is melted, 3 mins.
