clapshot is a traditional Orkney recipe of tatties (potatoes) and swede (yellow turnip) and is usually served with haggis. Clapshot is sometimes called Clapshaw or Orcadian Clapshot.
Ingredients
- 500g boiled potatoes shopping list
- 500g boiled swede shopping list
- 50g butter shopping list
- 2 tablespoons of chopped chives shopping list
- salt and pepper shopping list
- Optional: shopping list
- A pinch of nutmeg shopping list
- shallots can be used instead of chives shopping list
- dripping can be used instead of butter shopping list
How to make it
- Boil the tatties and swede in separate pans and then drain.
- Mash the swede and tatties together adding the butter.
- Stir in the chives and season with the salt and pepper
