How to make it

  • Melt fat in a frying pan or in the top part of a double boiler; remove from the heat and stir flour in to make a smooth paste. Add 1/3 of the hot milk and stir untilthe mixture is smooth. Add the r3emainder of the liquid and salt, and cook until smooth and thick. The process takes about 10-15 minutes over direct heat, and about 25-30 mintues in a double boiler.
