How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  • Combine dry ingredients
  • Add milk, egg and melted shortening or oil and mix well.
  • Pour into well-greased 8 inch square pan
  • Bake at 425 degrees for 25-30 minutes
  • Yeild: 16 (2 inch) cornbread squares.

    It should read 4 teaspoons of Baking Powder (not Tablespoons)
