Pa & Ma's Italian Spaghetti

- 2 pounds ground chuck. shopping list
- 1 cup finely chopped onion. shopping list
- 1 green pepper finely chopped. shopping list
- 3 cups water. shopping list
- 1 tablespoon sugar. shopping list
- 1 bay leaf crumbled. shopping list
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed. shopping list
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves. shopping list
- 2 cans (15 oz. each) tomato sauce. shopping list
- 2 cans (12 oz. each) tomato paste. shopping list
- 1 can (7-1/2 oz.) pitted ripe olives, drained and sliced. shopping list
- 2 envelopes (1-1/2 oz. each) Italian style spaghetti sauce mix with mushrooms. shopping list
- 16 oz. Italian style spaghetti. shopping list
- Grated parmesan cheese. shopping list
How to make it
- 1. Cook and stir ground chuck, onion, and green pepper until meat is brown and onion is tender.
- 2. Stir in remaining ingredients, except spaghetti and Parmesan cheese.
- 3. Cover; simmer 1-1/2 hours, stirring sauce occasionally.
- COOKING SPAGHETTI
- 1 pound Italian style spaghetti.
- 1 tablespoon salt.
- 1/4 cup olive oil.
- 4. Bring 3 quarts of water to a rolling boil.
- 5. When water comes to boil, add salt, and olive oil, add spaghetti slowly not breaking it.
- 6. Cook for exactly 7 minutes. Drain immediately and toss with 2 tablespoons butter.
- 7. Serve spaghetti with a generous amount of sauce. If desired top with Parmesan cheese and garlic bread.
