Ingredients

How to make it

  • * Preheat oven to 400°
  • * Peel and quarter potatos, boil in salt water until tender (about 20 minutes) ~ (we used instant)
  • * While potatos are cooking, melt 4 Tablespoons butter (1/2 stick) in large frying pan
  • * Saute onions in butter until tender over medium heat (10 minutes). Add vegetables according to cooking time. Carrots go with onions. Corn or peas at the end of cooking onions or after meat has initially cooked. (We used canned mixed veggies and added all at same time).
  • * Add ground beef and saute until no longer pink.
  • * Add salt/pepper.
  • * Add worcestershire sause.
  • * Add 1/2 cup beef broth and cook uncovered, low heat for 10 minutes (add more broth as necessary to keep moist)
  • * Mash potatos in bowl with remainder of butter, season to taste +(since we used instant we just followed directions to finish potatos)+
  • * Place beef and vegetable mixture in baking dish.
  • * Distribute mashed potatos on top (rough up with a fork to get peaks that will brown nicely ~ can use fork to make designs as well)
  • * Bake in oven until bubbling and brown (about 30 minutes). Broil for last few minutes if necessary to brown.
  • ** We added cheese (desired amount) for the last 5-10 minutes**
  • *+ Since we used instant potatos, it makes more (A LOT) than from scratch so you won't want to make quite as much as recipe calls for... trust me :) you may have to play with serving size a bit+*
