Lumpia

- 1/2 lb. ground beef shopping list
- 1/2 lb. ground pork shopping list
- 1 small sweet onion, finely chopped shopping list
- 3 carrots, shredded shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 3 T. soy sauce shopping list
- 1 tsp. sesame oil shopping list
- 1 tsp. hot sauce (such as Sriracha) shopping list
- 1/3 cup chopped cilantro shopping list
- 2 T. all purpose flour shopping list
- 1 T. garlic powder shopping list
- salt & pepper shopping list
- Lumpia wrappers, thawed shopping list
- 1 cup vegetable oil for frying shopping list
How to make it
- Put all ingredients except for the lumpia wrappers and vegetable oil in a large bowl and mix together, like you would a meatloaf. Make sure ingredients are well incorporated--using your hands helps with this.
- Roll lumpia according to package directions. (Spread a small amount of filling [about 1-2 tsp.] along the end of the lumpia wrapper. Fold bottom of wrapper up over the filling, and then fold in the sides. Tightly roll the lumpia up the rest of the way like you would a tiny burrito, keeping the roll very tight.) Have a small cup of water handy while you're rolling to dip your fingers in and seal the lumpia closed.
- Heat 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a large frying pan or heavy skillet over medium heat. Fry lumpia 4 or 5 at a time for about 5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy on all sides. Drain on paper towels. Serve immediately. (Serve with sweet chili sauce for dipping)
