Japanese Sponge Cake (kasutera)

- 5 eggs shopping list
- 150 g caster sugar shopping list
- 60 ml honey shopping list
- 3/4 TSP baking powder shopping list
- 3/4 cups plain flour shopping list
- Confectioners sugar shopping list
- 23 cm (9-in) square cake tin , greased and floured shopping list
How to make it
- Pre heat oven to 180 C
- In a medium bowl , beat the egg until frothy , then gradually beat in the sugar and honey .
- Continue beating until the mixture is thick and pale and the beaters leave a ribbon trail , about 12 minutes.
- Sift the baking powder and the flour together,then sift them into the bowl .
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture until just combined , then carefully pour the mixture into the prepared cake tin .
- Bake for 30 minutes , then transfer to a wire rack and leave it to cool completely .
- Dust with icing sugar and cut into squares before serving .
