This coffee cake is excellent when having guest over for dinner.

Ingredients
  • 8 oz of cream cheese-room temperature
  • 2 eggs--room temperature
  • 1 tsp. of vanilla
  • 1 tsp. of almond extract
  • 1/4 c. of milk, room temperature
  • 3/4 c. of dried cherries (or other dried fruit)
  • 1/2 c. of unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/4 c. of sugar
  • 1 1/3 c. of flour
  • 1 tsp. of baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. of baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. of salt
  • TOPPING
  • 3/8 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp of unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup flour

Directions
  1. First you preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Now you want to butter a cake pan.
  3. Now take a bowl and add sugar, butter, and cream cheese,and blend well.
  4. Then you can add one egg at a time, with vanilla.
  5. Next you can add eggs(1 at a time).
  6. You will want to sift dry ingredients using a sifter, going back and forth from adding the milk and sifted ingredients.
  7. Add cherries.
  8. Now pour into cake pan.
  9. Add sprinkled almonds.
  10. Use your fingers to press into the cake.
  11. Cook until toothpick comes out clean.
  12. Serve.
