How to make it

  • In a medium pot, heat oils over medium heat and add garlic and ginger and cook 5 minutes.
  • Add beans, tamari, honey, anise and first amount of water (1/4 C.). Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cook 10 minutes.
  • Whisk second amount (2 T.) of water with cornstarch and slowly whisk into hot sauce. Cook 2 minutes until sauce thickens
  • Remove from heat and cool completely.
  • Variation: Add 1 T. chopped fermented black beans to mixture.
  • Note: Dressing keeps well for 3 weeks.
